John 3:16

Doctrinal Bases

CEICA USA

The Evangelical Council of Central American Churches USA Inc. fully affirms without reservation the following doctrinal bases:

  1. We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, composed of 66 books, are the word of the living God, fully inspired by God, and inerrant in the original scriptures; and that they are of supreme and final authority in all matters of life and faith. 2nd Timothy 3:16,17; 2. Peter 1:19-21; Saint John 5:39;
  2. We believe that there is one God who eternally exists in three equal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Psalms 83:18; John 15:26; Ephesians 4:4-6; St. Matthew 28:19;
  3. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the incarnation of God the Son, who in his humanity was begotten by the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary. St. Matthew 1:18-20; St. Luke 1:35; St. John 1:1-14;
  4. We believe in the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit, the agent of the regeneration of souls and the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures; that seals the one who believes, dwells in the heart and invests it with power for service, through obedience; and that is saddened and turns off, when it is resisted or disobeyed. John 14:16; John 16:8-13; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:1-13; Ephesians 1:13; Ephesians 4:30; 1. Thessalonians 5:19;
  5. We believe that the consequences of the fall are: the total depravity of man and physical and Spiritual death . Psalms 14:2,3; Romans 3:19; Romans 5:12;
  6. We believe that the death of Jesus Christ on the cross was a vicarious and expiatory sacrifice, and that, by the shedding of his blood, his bodily resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the father, he is the savior of the world and especially of those who believe and who now he is in heaven as an intercessor and advocate on behalf of believers. 1. Peter 1:18,19; 1. Peter 2:24; Galatians 3:13; 1. Corinthians 15:3-6; Romans 4:25; Acts 1:11; Hebrews 1:3; Hebrews 7:25; 1. Timothy 4:10; 1. John 2:1,2;
  7. We believe that the Lord's second coming to rapture His Church is eminent, premillennial, personal, and corporate. John 14:3; Philippians 3:20,21; 1. Thessalonians 4:13-18; and later he will come in the glory of his father to establish his kingdom of justice and peace in the world Acts 1:11; St. Matthew 24:42-44; Titus 2:11-13; Jeremiah 23:5; St. Luke 1:31-33;
  8. We believe that everyone who receives Jesus Christ by faith apart from works is born of the spirit, therefore, he becomes a son of God and in Christ Jesus he is perfect before the father; however, still retains the old nature, which can only be overcome, by the fullness and power of the Holy Spirit S. John 1:1,13; Romans 8:4; Galatians 5:16; Ephesians 2:8,9; Ephesians 5:18; Colossians 1:22; Titus 2:5; 1. John 4:17;
  9. We believe in the resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust, some for eternal happiness and others for eternal perdition; and that the spirits of those who died in Christ pass immediately into the presence of the Lord, while their bodies await the day of resurrection. Psalms 73:23-26; St. Matthew 25:21-23; St. John 5:28,29; 2. Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:21-23; 1. Thessalonians 1:8-10; Revelation 1:15-17; Revelation 20:11-15;
  10. We believe in the existence and personality of Satan, the enemy of Christ and accuser of the chosen ones, although defeated on the cross; and in the fallen angels or demons, ministers who contribute to Satan, the power of the air whose end will be the lake of fire. St. Matthew 25.41; John 12:31; John 16:11; Ephesians 6:11-13; Colossians 2:15; 1. John 3:8; Revelation 2:10-12; Revelation 20:10;
  11. We believe that the true church, the body of Christ, is invisible and that it consists of all believers who are united to Christ by faith, in all ages and in all races, languages and nations on earth. That the visible churches are groups of people who congregate, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to give testimony of his grace, worshiping in spirit and in truth, hearing his word and observing his ordinances, therefore, in the visible church no position should be denied or avoided to any believer because of their race or nationality. St. John 1:12; John 4:24; 1. From Chronicles 12:12; Galatians 3:28; Philippians 2:15,16;
  12. We believe that God has established the civil power to define and enforce the duties of men among themselves , therefore the Christian must respect and comply with the provisions of the authorities in everything that does not contradict the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. 1. Kings 22:14-27; Daniel 3:15-21; Daniel 6:10; Matthew 5:10-12; Acts 4:19; Acts 5:29; Romans 13:1-7; 1. Timothy 2:1,2; 1. Thessalonians 2.13-15;
  13. We believe in water baptism and the Lord's Supper as ordinances of Christ Jesus, as a step of obedience after having accepted Christ. Matthew 28:19; Mark 14:12-25; 1. Corinthians 11:23-26;
  14. We believe that man was created by God as a special creature having the likeness and image of God and that he is a tripartite body, soul and spirit. Genesis 1:26; Psalms 103:3;
